What type of orchids are these?
I think they are maybe all mokara in yellow, orange, pink and purple. Are they all mokara?
What other orchids would be about a similar size (so not too huge for a bouquet!) that I could ask my florist for, if mokara aren't available?

Any idea where to start looking for an arch?
My wedding is going to be in a backyard now so I need to pull everything together. I've only seen one arch at a craft shop for about $20 but it was really cheap %26amp; flimsy. Where else do you go for that? Has anyone seen them at Home Depot, etc.? I couldn't find any on the website. I'm still keeping my florist who will be decorating the arch with a large center spray on top %26amp; some tool for the sides so it doesn't have to be incredible or anything. It's not really going to show. But, I also don't want it falling apart. Any ideas?

check for party rental companies in your area. Everywhere has them and you can rent a wedding arch from them if you don't like the one from the store.

I'm over budget & need to change my centerpieces?
Can you guys help? I thought I was okay on flowers, but now I realize it's adding up to too much. My entire wedding is supposed to be between $8,000-$10,000, which I realize isn't a lot to some but everything is getting out of whack.
My florist invoice is $1200 so far. I'm cutting a few things out that I know won't be a huge difference but I'm struggling on centerpieces.
My flowers will be fuschia Bombay Orchids %26amp; we're using a lot of greenery like bear grass. I want orange for an accent color so I chose Dahlias. We're mixing in other tropicals too like Asiatic Lilies, Ginger, etc. This is not my arrangement. They were going to be tall %26amp; dramatic but it gives you an idea of the flowers %26amp; colors:

The best way to make your centrepieces cheaper is to have less flowers and more candles, candles are much cheaper than flowers. Also look on ebay because they have cheap supplies for centrepieces.

Reply:Please! My whole budget for my entire trousseau, attendants' gifts, and flowers is less than that! Just pick up a few large pillar candles to scatter among the flowers to make them go further. Just a few blooms per arrangement, keep it simple. Less is more.

Upon considering everything, I have decided that ordering wholesale flowers online will be cheaper than consulting a florist to do all the work. I love to DIY, so I have decided that I will work on creating some of the arrangements for my wedding ceremony. What would be a good website to order wholesale flowers online? I have a few concerns though:

3. Quality of the service.

Also....when is your wedding? What time of year? My son's was in the summer and we have an air conditioned house, so it all worked out. They caution you NOT to put the flowers into regular refrigerators.....just keep them cool. Also, since these are fresh flowers, you will need to have them delivered 2 days before the wedding....then do all the arrangements, bouquets, boutonnieres the day BEFORE your wedding. It it LOTS of work! But, again, well worth it also!
I ordered 250 roses, which would have cost me $1,000 and I only paid (in 2006) $160!! Cheap! I did not do up bouquets, etc. I only used them for table arrangements for the rehearsal dinner, reception, church, cake table, etc.

Bridesmaids could have one dust pink arum lilly with matching ribbon.

Reply:because your dress has so much detail and colour on it I would go with something really simple and one colour otherwise you will take attention away from your gown. It will look to "busy" if you do anything more than two colours. Is this going to be a winter wedding? Hope this helps!

Head table decoration ideas??
I'm getting married this October and I'm now starting to figure out how to decorate the reception. I am doing tall vases with flowers at each table and probably some candles too, but I don't know how I'm going to decorate the head table? I have a very big wedding party so we are going to do something like this:

Since you have such a big head table I think it would be best to stick with something very simple. If you are looking to save some money you could probably do it yourself. If you want those containers you may be able to rent them - but that might end up costing you just as much as the floral arrangements.
You could go down to Michaels and get some of the floral garland to drape onto the head table.Or you could use these lights to drape onto the head table.

Or maybe you could get some small floating candle bowls to place at the edge of the table and put this in it. I think it would give the table/room a nice glow.

You can buy the bowls for floating candles at www.sav-on-crafts.com They also have vases that are the perfect size to hold your bridesmaid bouquets--I got 5.5 inch clear glass ones for $2.99 each. Not only will the bouquets dress up the table, I think the attendants will be happy to have a place to "park" the flowers.

we sat our best man and maid of honor with us on the stage and then had 3 round tables that were infront of the stage that we sat the rest or our wedding party, their dates (yes they got to sit with their dates and they really appreciated it), our parents, grandparents, and a few aunts and uncles, and the minister. the rest of the guests sat a rectangular tables so it helped to set them apart.
Reply:When it comes down to it, there really isn't a lot of room to put stuff on. We had two large floral arrangements - which we had used at the church, too. The bridesmaids and I put our flowers down on the table as well, so that added a lot. There were pillar candles, too.
We also had decorated Ukrainian wedding breads, which were pretty and colorful, but that's an ethnic thing.

Hi Everyone, I am having eggplant bridesmaids dresses and I have met with a couple of florists...I really liked this one lady I met the other day and this is what she came up with for the bridesmaids....i want to know your opinion...

lavendar (blue curiosa) roses

I'm just not sure what this is going to look like, so anyone that knows anything about flowers, please let me know!! Also, if anyone can find a picture of what this might look like, that would be awesome!

Instead I would see if the florist will add some baby's breath, and throw in some white roses too, or go with white hydrangeas because they will look better with the purple.

Some white mixed in the boquets would be very nice also... maybe some baby's breath or something light. The green hydrangea may be too big for the delicatness of the other two flowers.

Reply:This sounds perfect, actually! Lisianthus is a beautiful flower that resembles a rose but has more detail, is more delicate and has more aroma. Lavender roses (also called sterling roses, I believe) are perfect with a deep purple and the green hydrangea will add just the right touch! This florist really knows her stuff!
Reply:The flowers will look lovely. One suggestion though - you may want to mix in some whites or cream color flowers... otherwise your bridesmaids may end up looking too 'purple' with an eggplant color dress and a purple bouquet. Just my two cents.
